Rosemary is for remembrance…
But you should know I’m really terrible with names.

If you were kidnapped for 24 hours by a celebrity, who would you hope it would be?
Tony Stark. Genius, riches, endless witty banter, all those beautiful cars and a flying suit? This is a no brainer.

What unsolved mystery are you most fascinated by?
The disappearance of Amelia Earhart. Though I supposed that, like a lot of mysteries, this has as much to do with the whole story–of Earhart the real woman and the media creation–more than what happened to her.

What is the best thing about living in Texas?
The never-ending source of story material. My third book concerns the chupacabre. When a strange, chupacabra-esque creature was found in Cuero (right by where I was born, by the way) I sent the article to my editor and she wrote back, “I thought you made that thing up!” And I said, “You can’t make this stuff up. It just writes itself.”

About SPIRIT AND DUST:
Daisy Goodnight can speak to the dead. It’s not the result of a head injury or some near-death experience. She was just born that way. And she’s really good at it. Good enough to help the police solve the occasional homicide.

But helping the local authorities clear cold cases is one thing. Being whisked out of chemistry class by the FBI and flown to the scene of a murder/kidnapping in Minnesota? That’s the real deal.

Before the promotion can go to Daisy’s head, she’s up to her neck in trouble. The spirits are talking, and they’re terrified. There’s a real living girl in danger. And when Daisy is kidnapped by a crime boss with no scruples about using magic—and Daisy—to get what he wants, it looks like hers is the next soul on the line.
