You write books in the STAR WARS universe. So, if you were alive a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, who would you want to be? Jedi? Sith? Rebel? Bounty hunter? Droid?
A part of me says that I’d really like to be a Jedi, complete with mind tricks and a purple lightsaber. But another part of me remembers how much I prefer to stay at home and not do literally anything, so I’d probably just be a space slob. Maybe the Ewoks would take me in.
Give the Dark My Love follows a hero who turns villain. Was it kind of fun to write a character who makes the wrong choices?
So, so, so, so much fun. She makes the wrong choices, but she does so for the right reasons, and fundamentally believes she’s doing the right thing. And she never once questions whether or not she should make a grab for the power. She doesn’t care what others think about her, she just acts. And that is so refreshing.
Our festival slogan is “Read Everything.” What one book would you like to see on our official Read Everything list for 2018
Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart. It’s really rare for me to read a book once and have it make an indelible print on my soul, but that book did. It has the power to shift the way you see the world.
