Lauren Oliver will be our closing keynote speaker to wrap up all of the festivities of the Texas Teen Book Festival this year!
~Post by Haley of the BookPeople Teen Press Corps
Lauren Oliver is a young-Adult and middle-grade power house and a New York Times-bestselling author. Her books Delirium, Requiem, and Pandemonium take place in a world where love is considered a disease and must be cured by the age of eighteen. With only ninety-five days until her treatment, the main character Lena Halloway falls in love. This trilogy was picked up by Fox to be turned into a television show but was ultimately cancelled. Why, Fox, why?! She has also authored Before I Fall, Liesl & Po, which was a 2012 E. B. White Read-Aloud Award nominee, and another middle-grade novel, The Spindlers. Her newest YA novel Panic, was published on March 4, 2014 and has been already optioned by Universal Pictures in a major deal. Panic follows Heather as she competes in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought. Keep your eyes open for its release date and casting. We can’t wait! Lauren will be our last speaker of the day and we are expecting a fun and entertaining presentation from this wonderful author.
Fun Facts About Lauren Oliver:
1. She’s terrified of bananas.
2. She takes between 1 and 2 naps a day.
3. If she weren’t a writer, she’d want to be a back-up dancer. Preferably for Beyonce.
4. Fusilli is her favorite kind of pasta. It’s so screwy!
5. Her favorite word is “yes.”
Are you Panicking yet? You Should be!
