BookPeople’s Teen Press Corps member Xander knew Kayla Olson since before her book was published, and since she was here moderating a panel for TTBF, he took the opportunity to sit down and talk with her about her recent favorites, her book The Sandcastle Empire and what getting published feels like. The Sandcastle Empire is about a planet at war, a tyrannical group controlling what’s left of the Earth and its resources, and a teenage girl who wants to escape to the only neutral ground left.
