Another exciting lineup addition to #ATBF13! We are happy to announce that debut author Julie Murphy, author of SIDE EFFECTS MAY VARY will be moderating a panel on September 28th! Murphy hails from Big D (that’s Dallas if you aren’t from these parts), and many of us have been itching for her first book to come out for a long time! SIDE EFFECTS releases in March of 2014, but we couldn’t wait for you to meet her this year.
I actually went to a small private school and I don’t think we had any fight songs, but we had chapel every Wednesday. And there were lots of songs.
If you had a documentary made of your life what would the title be?

What is one of Texas’s hidden gems?
I can’t say myself, right? I’m going to go with The Polyphonic Spree. If you haven’t heard of them, you’ve probably at least heard one of their songs. Their live show is a religious experience.

About SIDE EFFECTS MAY VARY:
What if you’d been living your life as if you were dying—only to find out that you had your whole future ahead of you?
When sixteen-year-old Alice is diagnosed with leukemia, her prognosis is grim. To maximize the time she does have, she vows to spend her final months righting wrongs—however she sees fit. She convinces her friend Harvey, whom she knows has always had feelings for her, to help her with a crazy bucket list that’s as much about revenge (humiliating her ex-boyfriend and getting back at her arch nemesis) as it is about hope (doing something unexpectedly kind for a stranger and reliving some childhood memories). But just when Alice’s scores are settled, she goes into remission.
Now Alice is forced to face the consequences of all that she’s said and done, as well as her true feelings for Harvey. But has she done irreparable damage to the people around her, and to the one person who matters most?
