Zac Brewer – #TTBF Author Interview – 2017

August 10, 2017 in TTBF 2017

1. Madness is a complicated, even provocative, word. What does the word mean to you? People have described mental illness as madness for centuries. The word itself evokes a feeling of chaos, of something one cannot totally understand or fully control. Love is a lot like that too, which is why I found it to be such a fitting title for my book. I have clinical depression, suicidal ideation (with a past attempt), anxiety and OCD. On my dark days, the word "madness" makes me feel labelled and misunderstood--broken, even. On my lighter days, the word itself drives me to do all I can to remove the stigma surrounding mental illness. I'm making my mess my message. 2. If you could only write in one location for the rest of your life, where would that be? Many years ago, Johnny Cash was asked to define paradise. His response was "This morning, with her, having coffee." I can write anywhere. So long as my husband is there, it's the perfect place.
